SLS was asked to carry out testing of the cast iron lampposts in Trafalgar square, London. We were asked to do this because because Westminster City Council were concerned that revellers could topple one of them when swinging or climbing on them. SLS Systems manufactured a special test rig and devised a method of testing to stimulate the uplift on the lampposts. The work was carried out during the early hours of the morning in August. Loads were applied to all the lampposts, and  SLS engineers reported on the condition and strength of the holding down bolts, and any remedial work that was deemed necessary.
